Arnold J. Nicholson currently serves as Leader of Opposition Business in Jamaica’s Senate, and as Opposition Spokesman on Justice & Constitutional Affairs. A Legal Advisor to the People’s National Party, his distinguished record includes service as Jamaica’s Attorney General & Minister of Justice, Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Parliamentary Secretary with responsibility for Culture in the Ministry of Education & Culture and Member of Parliament.
A highly respected legal practitioner, he was Deputy Chairman of the Preparatory Committee for the establishment of the Caribbean Court of Justice, serving also as M Member of the Executive of the Council of Legal Education, the CARICOM Legal Affairs Committee, and Jamaica’s General Legal Council. He is a regular contributor and attendee at international conferences across the globe, most notably including Commonwealth Law Ministers’ Meetings.
Mr. Nicholson received his Bachelor of Laws (Hons.) from the University of London, and a Bachelor of Science (Econ.) (Hons.) from the University of the West Indies.
